Spencer’s fresh and inspirational approach has placed him in growing demand as a conductor.
With over 16 years conducting experience, he has built up an impressive portfolio and has an enviable track record of achieving results. His versatility and energy have earned him conducting posts with symphony orchestras, wind orchestras, and brass bands.
His musical career has taken him around the world and he has conducted in the UK’s major concert halls including the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, Birmingham's Symphony Hall, Snape Maltings and Newcastle's Sage.
He currently heads up the brass department at Junior Guildhall where he conducts both the symphony orchestra and brass band.
Spencer was involved in the filming of a new BBC2 classical music competition. He was a first round judge on the high profile programme, which was screened in 2007.
Under his leadership, he has also established the Kew Wind Orchestra as one of Britain’s leading amateur wind ensembles by gaining three successive gold awards at the National Concert Band Festival finals.
Spencer is also the musical director of the professional ensemble Pioneer Brass.
